Client case: ‘Potje Pameijer’

Estimated reading time: 4 minutes

Today we present the Client Case ‘Potje Pameijer‘ , an organization that focuses on helping people live, work and grow up. They support vulnerable people with psychosocial, psychiatric problems or a (mild) mental disability.

A few months ago, a challenge arose at Pameijer to celebrate their 95th anniversary. Rijka Freling of Pameijer asked UP Digital to help them with a connecting game concept in times of Corona. For this, UP Digital developed a custom made game based on our anniversary game, which allowed them to enjoy and celebrate in a safe way.

Hats off to customized anniversary game ‘Potje Pameijer’ by UP Digital

5 rounds, 45 teams, 3 winners , 7.8 as rating

What do we think is cool? When a client turns out to be just as enthusiastic about a custom made game by UP Digital as they are themselves. Fortunately there was an immediate click when Rijka Freling of Pameijer called UP Digital. Whether they could create an anniversary game at UP Digital to safely reflect on the 95th anniversary of the organization in corona time.

Well, “standing still” … there was active play to score the most points in hopes of coming out as the best team and ending up in the limousine. Don’t get what we mean? We like to let Rijka explain it herself, because that’s how you get the best picture of Potje Pameijer and what UP Digital can do for you in a customized game!

What was the goal?

Pameijer wanted a game that colleagues could play in teams in different phases at their own locations at a time that suited them best. The game had to combine surprising fun elements, energetic competition and light-hearted Pameijer content.

What did the game look like?

Each team received a starter pack full of surprising props, a welcome letter and five envelopes that went with the different pots (game weeks). The game itself was played via an app. This existing app was modified so that our game fit right in. The physical and digital elements thus came together for five weeks in five Pameijer jars.

Each potty was different in format. There was a game where the team went out into the neighborhood to complete a new task at every 100m traveled. There was a game in which a quiz was played in a living room setting (at 1.5m) (through the mail that week the teams received a tasty surprise to make it some fun), codes were cracked and the last game involved building a course (chainreaction-game). In each game there was a link to Pameijer’s services. In this way we provide more connection with and knowledge about our organization in a fun and accessible way.

We also tried to stuff the game full of surprises. For example, there was a task that read 0634322691. Then try to figure out that this is a cell phone number you need to call. And there was a little red ball in the starter pack that one needed in pot 5 to get the course going. We also added elements to earn bonus points, such as uploading photos or videos, setting a time limit or using certain materials.

Our anniversary year ended with a big staff party. The winners of Potje Pameijer were brought to this party by limousine, had a delicious dinner beforehand and had a budget to dress up in fancy dress.

How did you end up at UP Digital?

Quite simply, they were at the top of the search results on Google [whoop whoop, they are very happy about that at Up Digital!]. And so it was an instant hit. There was an instant click and during the phone conversation both parties started to bubble up immediately. As a result, the first ideas were born right away.

How did the collaboration go?

That went very well. What I especially liked is that I never had to chase anything.

There was such a fast pace and were very proactive in thinking along to make the experience even better for the participants.

What could be (even) better next time?

We really tried to get the most out of the app and we succeeded. Sometimes with quite a bit of creative thinking from the concept developers at UP Digital. There were also learning moments. For example, in the end it turned out to be impossible to build the five different games in one environment. So next time this can be taken into account beforehand.

And sometimes I would send them needed input over the weekend and they would have it implemented by Monday morning. But of course that’s not an area for improvement.

Thanks, specifically to Pim and Martin of UP Digital!
